Video Game Legacy

Meet the Team

Meet the gamers, collectors and contributors behind Video Game Legacy. The people researching, writing, playing, organising and occasionally wondering how a perfectly sensible gaming idea became quite this ridiculous.

Legacy Michael Smikey
The Founder

Legacy Michael (Smikey)

A lifelong collector and gamer, Michael created Video Game Legacy to help fellow collectors discover what’s missing from their collections and inspire a new generation to start their own. Video games have saved his life more than once, and Legacy is his way of giving something back to the industry he loves.

He’s also responsible for dreaming up increasingly ridiculous gaming challenges, most of which probably seemed like perfectly reasonable ideas at the time.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Legacy Jill
The Heart and Soul of Legacy

Legacy Jill

Jill is the heart and soul of Video Game Legacy. Working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the latest gaming news and updates to the homepage, she’s also the reason anyone is organised, deadlines are met, and the entire operation doesn’t descend into complete chaos.

The sweetest, most honest and loving person you could ever hope to meet, Jill brings far more to Legacy than hard work and organisation. She’s the person who holds it all together, and quite simply, without her, Video Game Legacy wouldn’t exist.

Legacy Khaleesi
The Eye Roll of Legacy

Legacy Khaleesi

Khaleesi is the eye roll of Video Game Legacy. No, really. She’s perfected the art of expressing her disappointment in the rest of us without saying a single word. She’s also the reason Dad is almost certainly going to lose Dad vs Kids, and unfortunately, she knows it.

The only Legacy member brave enough to help Smikey chase a Play of the Game with every Overwatch hero, she’d probably make the challenge a little easier if she stopped playing D.Va every single game. And yes, she’s rolling her eyes reading this.

She doesn’t actually own frog headphones, either. But we’re going to keep putting them in things anyway. Purely because we love her. And the eye rolls.

Favourite Game
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — although Ocarina of Time is making a very strong case for itself...
Legacy Stefan
The Mood of Legacy

Legacy Stefan

Stefan is the mood of Video Game Legacy. Good mood, bad mood, questionable mood — whatever the day brings, he’s definitely in one of them.

He thinks he’s the GOAT of Mario Kart 8, but based on the way he drives half the time, you’d think he was an actual goat.

He’s not terrible at all video games — he just hasn’t worked out yet that we aren’t showing everyone the ones he’s actually good at. 🤫

Favourite Game
Plants vs. Zombies
Legacy Dexter
The Lost Koopa of Legacy

Legacy Dexter

Dexter is the lost lamb of Video Game Legacy — or perhaps the lost Koopa. Sometimes sweet, sometimes innocent, often completely clueless, and somehow still likely to get stomped in almost every appearance he makes in our videos.

To be fair, his gaming achievements are growing year on year. Once he stops using YouTube to get half of them, we’ll update this and give him a little more credit. You’d think the least he could do is watch our content instead.

Legacy Ariel
The Baby of Legacy

Legacy Ariel

Ariel is the baby of Video Game Legacy. She’s only 6 — not really, but she looks it, and that joke is never getting old. 😂

Her gaming adventures are still very much in the early stages of development, but every now and again she’ll pull off an incredible, spectacular, almost certainly fluked lucky win that nobody saw coming.

She has a whole lifetime ahead of her to prove she’s the best 6-year-old gamer in the world — even when she’s in her 30s.
