I’d like to start with a few questions about you and the company.
Q1. For those that don’t know much about you or Herrero Games Could you please give us a brief introduction about both yourself and the company?
Herrero Games - I'm a game developer from Santander, Spain. I started working on my first game 5 years ago, and then I created the company Herrero Games. It began as a one-man-company, but now the team is growing and we are also collaborating with other studios.
Q2. I’m lucky enough to have conversations with game developers all over the world but I believe your only the 3rd or 4th company from Spain is there a big gaming development community in the country?
HG - Of course there are a lot of video game development studios in Spain, and some of them are making really nice products. We started very humble, but making small steps every day we try to learn and grow. Hard working is our key of success.
Q3. What was your favourite Video Game when you were growing up and what’s your favourite game right now?
HG - I was a huge fan of Super Nintendo, and I remember all those great games. Probably my favourite ones are Donkey Kong Country saga, all Super Mario Bros... I liked strategy games as well, Heroes of Might and Magic III is still my favourite one in that genre. I think my favourite actual game right now is Mario Galaxy.
A selection of games likely to feature quite high on most peoples favourite lists.
Q4. What inspired you to get into video game development?
HG - I started creating music for video games, until I decide to start my own game. It was "Job the Leprechaun". I liked the experience so much, so I continued learning about game development and making more titles.
Q5. I’ve recently reviewed both Job The Leprechaun & Reptilian Rebellion both had clear indications that they were originally made for non console platforms what made you decide to bring the games to the Nintendo Wii U?
HG - Job the Leprechaun was first released for Android devices, but I found it worked very well on Pc and consoles, so I made the port to Steam and Wii U.
Reptilian Rebellion is a casual game that works well on both platforms. I thought it could work as "filler" game on a TV or PC monitor.
Q6. Both games also appear to be aimed towards a slightly more casual / younger gamer market.
