(Occasional singing Sheep)
I smiled I knew my Princess had gone to the party I'd talked to her a few hours ago but something didn't seem right in the voice on the other end of the phone.
"Kerry she's gone, she's dead"
21 years ago today I lost the love of my life.
It wasn't my first experience with death or my last.
This book and all the stories of happiness, darkness and struggles is dedicated to my 1st true Princess.
Not entirely sure how I'm still here myself but here I am.
As messed up as it has often been
This is My Life & My Mind!
Let's set the scene the right way by not giving the protagonist a name or really selling this thing quite how the editor thinks it should be done.
How should a book be really be started? Once upon a time seems like it could work after all this tale involves fairies, angels, Demons and even all singing, all dancing sheep. But this isn’t a fairy tale the happy ever after is certainly questionable and the protagonist of this story most certainly isn’t some heroic hero that has to succeed in the end. After all she doesn’t even have a name right now!
(Editor Notes) Surely at the very least a name should have been thought up before this thing was started? Well come on then set the scene for this epic journey a book should hook people early you know? How are we going to start things off? A log cabin in the middle of nowhere? In the middle of an epic fight with a huge fire breathing dragon? What about a few zombies you love the Walking Dead and zombies are so over right now that’s got to be the way to go right? (Editor Notes)
Our currently nameless protagonist finds herself in the middle of a room so dark she can’t even see the four wall that encase her.
(Ed) Wait a minute the room is so dark she can’t see the walls but she already knows there are four? (Ed)
Searching for a light switch would appear to be the best course of action so with her arms held out in front of her she shuffles slowly around trying to do just that.
After Some searching and a flick of switch later the room is still dark but things are at least visible enough for us to move this story along. Four walls surround us.
(Ed) Convenient (Ed)
Two of the walls in particular catch our protagonists attention on one a huge steel door complete with sliding hatch and numerous locks and bolts. On the opposite side of the room is a broken wooden door gently swinging open and closed as if catching some form of undetectable breeze. The protagonist searches the four dark corners of the room with each seemingly more dark than the one that precedes it. Hidden in almost the total darkness of the final corner is a man huddled as tightly as possible, his head buried between his knees & hidden under his scar covered arms.
(Ed) If you can see the scars the corner can’t be that dark (Ed)
He begins to mutter faintly as our protagonist takes a couple of steps towards him
“How did you get in here?”
“Don’t come any closer”
Naturally our protagonist takes a couple more steps.
“Why are you here?”
“What is it you seek?”
Our protagonist stops just a few steps from the still huddled up man.
(Ed) Please tell me you at least thought up a couple of questions? (Ed)
“Who are you?”
“Where are we?”
(Ed) How very predictable, maybe he should have asked what his own name was. (Ed)
The huddled man raises his head to reveal a drawn & tortured look, bloodshot eyes & more than a couple of missing teeth.
“I am the keeper of the mind”
He slowly begins to get to his feet.
“And you are in the deep dark depths of my owner”
(Ed) Wait that’s it? This is how you’re selling this entire 218 chapter epic? Barely a mention of those sheep? No mention of all the women or the sex or the deaths? Those things sell books, you know that right? None of the good or the bad or… well sure okay the keeper is pretty ugly. You’re really going to have to up your game in chapter 1. This isn’t a modern day Mario game where your readers are like lives & you’ll just keep getting more without even trying. Let’s be honest if you keep calling her the protagonist these pages are going to have more ghosts than a full Pac Man play through!
Let me have one quick paragraph to turn this mess around for you.
This story was written at the suggestion of one of the greatest men the author ever met and that’s saying a lot because the author has almost no male interactions in his life. Yes the mind segments are out there, but the core chapters are very real & often very raw. Brutally honest throughout, My Life My Mind isn’t an autobiography that tries to paint the author in a better light, make him sound nicer than he is or seek sympathy for life’s losses. The author is autistic, he’s extremely uncomfortable with most social interactions, he’s a gamer, he’s a dad and he is clearly a little bit crazy. It doesn’t matter if this is read by one person or one million people. The author has always done things his own way and will always do so. We hope you’ll enjoy the ride there is fun to be had within the darkness. My Life My Mind an autobiography the likes of which has never been seen before and let's face it will never be seen again.
Nope it’s not going to work is it? I told you to just start with a zombie fight you were already halfway there with that weird keeper! (Ed)
Chapter 1 Creation
There are two versions of this in my archives one that starts the moment I was born & the other starts roughly 9 months prior.
At the time this is published i'm somewhat torn on which to choose but given the early madness we've got into already with this foreword we'll probably stick purely with facts in the real chapter entries.
Not everyone general readers or our game industry partners will be happy about the inclusion of this book on the website.
If we lose views or press content or review copies then that's just life and that's how it will be.
Under no circumstances will this content be removed to satisfy the desires of anyone else.
We won't be publishing more than 4 of these entries a month so they shouldn't be all that hard to just skip past.
Talking about life's struggles as well as life's happiness is something that not enough people in the world do already.
This book does have sporadic gaming content and gaming certainly saved my life more than once.
I've also heavily edited the book since it was first written to remove over 99% of the language some people might find offensive so reader / developer / publisher or press partner if you're simply offended because this book talks about real life (or some of that crazy mind stuff) I thank you for visiting and or any help you've given me in the past.
If you want to see every tag or archive in the database you can do so here.
The list will be very long though
