About The Game
BLOK DROP U is a simple, yet challenging, physics-based puzzle game, exclusive to Wii U.
Your goal is to guide the red blok safely to rest on any of the normal platforms by tapping and destroying the grey bloks.
Watch out for a number of different obstacles as you guide your red blok. Open holes, blades, bounce bloks and more will try to destroy your red blok to prevent you from reaching your goal!
The aim of the game is simple enough to understand all you have to do is get the red block to land on solid ground and clear all of the other blocks on the screen.
A few of the levels may provide a brief challenge but I can say with reasonable assertion the game isn’t that hard as 2 of my 3 kids aged 1 and 3 at the time completed the game completely unassisted.
They had a certain amount of luck on some levels.
Even if you do genuinely struggle on a level odds are you'll probably get lucky hitting different blocks reasonably quickly.
At the time of review there were still only the 30 levels in the game despite more though being announced and promised to be on the way to extend the game early 2015.
The game provides a brief challenge but never really increases in difficulty much.
All blocks must be removed to complete a level even if your red block is on solid ground with no grey blocks anywhere near it which is a minor annoyance.
The game could have been more competitive by clearing a level by removing as few blocks as possible, or by getting the red block to saftey and clearing all remaining blocks as quickly as possible.
a few added little extras could really help a concept as simple as this become far more repayable.
Even though none of the blocks to the left will touch or affect the red block they all must be removed before the level can be finished.
While I see various improvements or scope for a more competitive game via minimal block clearance or fastest clearance time.
The game as it stands is still a worth some consideration as a one off play through given its budget price & frequent appearance in the eShop sale list.
The overall idea is simple but addictive enough to keep you interested but unfortunately there just aren't enough levels nor enough of a challenge to warrant returning to the game once its over.
Blue blocks act as springs and can't / don't need to be cleared with a tap.
Cheaper than a cup of coffee.
Anyone of any age or ability could pick up and play the game.
The blue spring blocks might help get the red block to easy safety.
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
Almost everyone will beat it in under an hour.
Most of the levels are too easy.
After you've beat all the levels there is no reason to play it again.
The games biggest flaw is it's easiness just a couple of competitive elements could have made this a must buy.
Blok Drop U is a fun throw away game while it lasts.
How long the experience lasts is though very much its biggest issue.
The vast majority of people will beat the game completely on the first attempt.
I beat the original 30 levels in 34 minutes.
If a timer were added more competitive players could return to try and beat their own times as well as posting to miiverse (or online leader boards)
30 more extra levels were promised almost 2 years ago and while I'd liked to be proved wrong it seems highly unlikely they'll ever actually arrive.
If your looking for a quick puzzle blitz for a very low price (or free on mobile) it't probably worth taking a look, if your looking for a much deeper experience you'll need to turn your attention elsewhere.
